Book on Bangladesh home decoration launched

Although home decoration as entrepreneurial venture has taken root in the country over a decade ago, with a number of firms emerging in the new area, few were able to stand out with distinctive quality. Apart from the firms, only a handful of individuals have proven their creativity and finesse to come out with uniqueness.
Nazneen Haque Mimi is undoubtedly one of them. With her elegant style and innovation, she has carved out an enviable place in the world of our home decoration.
An avid traveller, she also writes travelogues. Lately, she has published a valuable book on home decoration called Homes of Bangladesh.
Recently, as part of the 'Made in Bangladesh'-themed fair at New York City, USA, Dr. Dipu Moni, Minister of Foreign Affairs, unveiled the jacket of Mimi's new publication.
Divided into thirteen chapters, the 356-page book deals with the tradition of the Bangladeshi home decoration, and takes a look into the modern developments in the concepts of home styles and their fine execution, craftsmanship that turns ideas and imagination into tangible reality.
Also present at the ceremony were, among others, the Bangladesh High Commissioner in Washington Akramul Quader, the United Nations' Bangladesh representative Dr. A. K. Abdul Momen, the Consul General of New York's Bangladesh Consulate M. Shamsul Haque, media personality Muhammad Jahangir, actor Afzal Hossain, and Channel-i director Zahiruddin Mahmud Mamun.
Mimi's work has proved to be highly popular among the expatriate Bangladeshis visiting the fair. Participants in the ceremony expressed hope that on the occasion of celebrating Dhaka's four hundredth anniversary the book, which is the first on Bangladesh's home decoration, will earn a lot of readers and will be admired both at home and abroad.
Homes of Bangladesh has been published by Journeyman and distributed by Agamee Prakashani.
